Now that you’re an expert in getting rid of that pesky pimple, its time to learn how to really get rid of pimples….for good! Well as the age old adage goes – prevention is better than a cure, and that proves especially true in fighting acne.
Countless hours of grief from dealing with breakouts could be avoided if people took charge of their lifestyle and took simple remedial steps towards preventing acne. Its probably an overused saying, but its often the small changes that make the biggest difference. In this part of the article, I have provided 6 simple but essential tips to ensure you permanently get rid of pimples. Without further ado, here goes :
1. Manage your stress
Time and time again, stress seems to be one of the top reasons why people suffer recurring bouts of acne lapses. Stress is a normal and important part of your bodily function.

During stress, additional amounts of the hormone cortisol is released into the body that provides many useful functions, among which a burst of energy, temporary increased memory and increased resistance to pain. However, prolonged increased levels of cortisol can have a negative effect on your body, and one of the first parts of your body that seems to suffer is your skin. If you want to get rid of pimples, find ways to get rid of excess stress in your lifestyle too.
2. Get sufficient sleep
You would probably have your own horror stories about how you’ve woken up with a pimple on your face after pulling an all-nighter! Getting anywhere from 6 – 8 hours of sleep daily will give your body a chance to properly recuperate, which will ensure that no nasty breakouts occur.
3. Cleanse your face daily
Make facial cleansing a part of your daily routine, taking care not to cleanse more than twice a day. As you establish this habit, this will ensure that any accumulated grime is removed from your face without you stripping any essential oils from your face. This step is an absolute must if you want to get rid of pimples.
4. Drink lots of water
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, ensure you drink at least 1.5 litres of water daily. Drinking this amount of water allows your body to have enough fluids to sufficiently “flush” your body and to replenish any fluids lost through skin evaporation. Properly hydrated skin ensures optimum skin health, and you’ll want to give your skin every little bit of help it can get. Acne sufferers who wish to get rid of pimples will find this step probably the one that provides the most noticeable effect the quickest.

5. Maintain good internal health with a proper diet
Any external treatment you give your skin will be completely undone if the internal health of your body is not carefully looked after. My article Natural Acne Solutions – The 3 vitamins to fight acne provides a thorough explanation of food varieties to ensure healthy skin. As a summary – stay clear of too much carbohydrates, consume more vegetables and fruits, especially brightly coloured ones, and supplement your diet with foods containing essential oils like Omega3 (oily fish, nuts, etc).
6. Maintaining proper hygiene
While this may sound like a straightforward point, take heed carefully if you want to get rid of pimples. Firstly, ensure your pillow sheets and bed sheets are changed regularly. This ensures that any long lodged dirt on your sheets does not find its way onto your face, clogging your pores or worse still, depositing bacteria. Additionally, resist the temptation to touch your face with dirty hands, or to prematurely pop pimples or extract blackheads the wrong way. Ladies, you probably know this already, but do not go to sleep with make up on, as this gives a chance for your pores to get blocked, promoting pimple development.
Ask anyone you know who has flawless skin and I am almost certain that these tips above form a vital part of their skincare regime. Looking after you skin is as much about what goes on inside your body as it is about what happens externally. By not only following but maintaining these tips above, you will find a significant improvement in the overall health of your skin, count on it!
